Outlook Categorize feature quickly categorizes similar items in a group to let you visually identify them from the messages, appointments, email, and contact list. You can, for instance, add contacts of your business partners/stakeholders to Business category in order to quickly filter all business related contacts. If you want to share categories with Outlook configured clients over LAN network,  you may want to try out CodeTwo CatMan. It is an Outlook tool which provides a simple way to share your public categories with anyone connected on the network.  Just like previously reviewed CodeTwo Outlook Sync which allows syncing Outlook contacts and calendar between two PCs on network, it presents a simple configuration wizard to specify the categories you want to share with connected clients. Moreover, you can sync categories with configured FTP/HTTP server to share them with users who are not on same network.

Before installing CatMan, make sure that Outlook is not running. Once installed, launch Outlook and navigate to Home tab. Now head over to CodeTwo CatMan group and launch Category Manager. The first step requires specifying remote path from where you want to share categories list. Alternatively, you can specify FTP/HTTP server path along with correct login details to connect and save categories list.

In second step, separate public categories from private categories. You can also add new public categories by clicking Add button, and edit and remove existing ones. Once public list is created, click Next to proceed further,

The next step verifies the specified remote path. Just click Finish to end the wizard. CodeTwo CatMan syncs categories after every 30 seconds. However you can set custom sync time interval from CodeTwo Category Manager Settings window.

The video below demonstrates the usage in details.

CodeTwo CatMan works on Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010. Both 32-bit and 64-bit Outlook editions are supported.
